Connectivity

OneGatewayConnect, combine and control your business data.

Available / supported

OneGateway provides a central REST/HTTP interface between modern applications and your existing business systems. It can call target systems directly, queue updates, combine information from several sources and apply a security model designed around your business.

01 / The problem it solves

Every new app shouldn't need its own way into your ERP.

Modern internal applications need reliable access to data and business functions held across UniData, UniVerse, SQL and other systems.

Without a common layer, every application has to implement its own connection, security and transformation logic. That is slower to build, harder to support and riskier to change. OneGateway gives you one controlled place for that logic.

02 / Capabilities

What OneGateway does.

Key capabilities

  • REST/HTTP APIs for internal applications
  • Real-time reads and updates where the source system allows
  • Queued background processing for slower transactions
  • Composite data services that combine several sources in one call
  • Custom user security and permissions
  • Centralised integration logic

Common uses

  • Backends for internal OneApp solutions
  • Dashboards and portals
  • Time recording and approvals
  • Manufacturing and warehouse apps
  • Combining UniData/UniVerse and SQL data
  • Reusable APIs shared by several applications

Can be adapted: OneGateway can also front other APIs and business systems beyond MultiValue platforms.

03 / How it works

One application-facing interface, many systems behind it.

01

Request

Your application calls a standard REST/HTTP Web API rather than connecting to each system itself.

02

Secure

A customer-specific security model can link identities from several systems into one application login with process rights.

03

Call or queue

Reads and writes go directly to the target system, or are queued through a central SQL control database when processing is too slow for an interactive response.

04

Combine

A single method can combine several systems, or several parts of one slow dataset, into one composite response.

04 / Deployment & integration

Where it runs and what it connects to.

We install, configure and support OneGateway as part of your wider system landscape, and shape each deployment around the systems you already use.

05 / How it fits

The internal integration layer behind modern apps.

OneGateway is used heavily as the internal integration layer for OneApp solutions: UniData/UniVerse, SQL and other systems sit behind OneGateway, and a OneApp or internal web portal sits in front.

It is more than a generic API gateway, because the value lies in orchestration, queued posting, composite data and security. Where applications run in the cloud or on remote devices, REST Runner is usually the better fit.
